Summary
During the second quarter, we worked on XML plans that are processed by our execution engine, techniques to compose plans, and the graphical interface of SANGAM. Below, we describe each in detail. Execution plans: We designed several execution plans based on the queries posed by our neuroscientists. These plans correspond to the functionality of our graphical user interface. A good way to think about these plans is to conceptualize them as query trees that describe the order of Web Service invocations [1]. These query trees are dependent on the profile of the published Web Services, see [2], which details input and output of a published operation. There are a total of 20 Web Services that constitute the plans detailed in [1, 2]. Composition strategies: In collaboration with Professor Jianwen Su of University of California at Santa Barbara, we investigated strategies to compose XML plans. This work is preliminary and in progress. Graphical user interface: Per the guidelines of Quarter 1 report, we made a version of SANGAM operational using a preliminary graphical user interface. This is demonstrable by visiting http://sangam.usc.edu/ . To see a few XML plans executed by this deployment, visit plan 1, plan 2, and plan 3. Goals
